AP: A photo leaked recently from a recent State Dinner shows how a cat may have gotten past White House security. While inside the cat reportedly used several priceless 18th Century French chairs as scratching posts before peeing in the Lincoln Bedroom.

Chairman Meow in China Town - A supporter of Chairman Meow recently placed a propaganda sticker prominently on this phone booth in China Town, San Francisco. This strategic positioning of propaganda specifically targets all 7 Chinese people between the ages of 18 and 50 in San Francisco who do not yet have a cell phone, and still rely on frequent visits to the phone booth to make calls.

Woman Hoards 108 Cats

Cat Hoarding: Chairman Meow recently learn of woman in San Jose who hoarded 108 cats in trailer park. All 108 cats have to be taken to local animal shelter, and only 30 friendly and healthy enough to adopt.

So sad that kittehs treated this way, and held as political prisoners by mad woman. In actuality though, cat hoarding is mental disorder, (similar to obsessive compulsive disorder, with attachment and delusional components) and not result of intending to harm kittehs.

What is Cat Hoarding? Considered a form of animal cruelty, cat hoarding defined as "pathological human behavior that involves a compulsive need to obtain and control animals, coupled with a failure to recognize their suffering." Hoarders often believe that they are helping cats and protecting them, and that others will hurt the cats.

This "love" for cats causes living conditions to quickly deteriorate as number of cats rises. (This sound like same way that former American President Dick Cheney's love for Iraqis cause him to hoard them at Guantanamo Bay. People say he order waterboarding, but Chairman Meow think that maybe he just trying to bath them and keep them clean?)

Chairman Meow observes a glacier in Patagonia (the Southern tip of Argentina), noting that it's progress is slower than American Healthcare reform. Unfortunately, in a relative way these glaciers are moving quickly; having retreated over 1 km since the early 1990s, making them among the fastest retreating glaciers in the world.

Benevolent Leader Meow notes, however, that Global Warming / Climate change is expected to greatly increase the world's feline population. Not only does warmer weather make outdoor living more suitable to cats, but the warmer weather sends female cats into heat earlier and more often. Fat Cat Causes Drama at Newark Airport
NEWARK, NJ - "Too Big to Fail" - A 25 pound cat reportedly freaked out while going through airport security during rush hour on Tuesday, jumping from it's carrier, and then squeezing under a large bomb detection machine where it became lodged in the 4 inch tall space.

The checkpoint soon was closed down, causing havoc at the airport, where people had to be diverted to other checkpoints. The cat eluded security officers who tried in vain to use a snare to capture the large animal.

After 20 minutes, Emergency Services were called in, and a hydraulic spreader had to be used to lift the one-ton bomb detection machine, so that the portly cat could be accessed.

Although the cat's owners missed their flight, they were reportedly "ecstatic" that the large cat had not been harmed. Authorities described the cat as, "tired and relaxed" after all of the drama.

In related news, President Obama has reportedly had trouble confronting fat cats on Wall Street, who continue to endanger our economy. Perhaps a hydraulic lift and snare would work?

2/08/10 - In response to the recent increase in the number of killings in Philippine karaoke bars, Benevolent Leader Chairman Meow has a statement condemning the (usually) senseless killings. The following has been translated from Wise Leader Meow:

Chairman Meow reminds us of ancient Zen Proverb: "Student says " I am very discouraged. What should I do?" Master says, "encourage others."

Although this proverb does not specifically mention that the act of murdering someone in a karaoke bar is wrong, Great Leader Meow believe that such wisdom is implied, even if singer very bad.

In the meantime, followers of Great Leader Meow have been asked to use discretion when choosing songs to perform in karaoke bars located within notoriously violent areas of the Philippines. While in Santa Fe New Mexico, the Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile became a canvas for Chairman Meow propaganda. After stopping briefly downtown for lunch, the driver reportedly forgot where he parked the vehicle, asking several locals, "have you seen my wiener?"

Chairman Meow finally has a (temporary) place by the Eiffel tower; the world's most visited paid monument in the world.

Built as the entrance arch for the 1889 World's Fair, the tower was the world's tallest until 1930 when the Chrysler building was completed. It consists of over 18,000 pieces of iron joined together by approximately 2.5 million rivets.

We hope that Chairman Meow's presence on the tower will inspire some of the millions of tourists who visit each year, encouraging them to adopt the radical ideology of the Feline Revolution. - thanks, Ross!

The Godfather: The cat held in the opening scene of the Godfather was actually a stray that Marlon Brando found on the Paramount movie lot during filming. He added the cat himself, believing that it would help show the Godfather's soft side. (he often stroke's the cat while giving violent instructions to his underlings)

There was no cat in the actual script, and conspiracy theories suggest that, wishing to be famous, the cat manipulated the actor into featuring it in the movie. In fact, the cat purred so loudly during filming that it overpowered some of Brando's lines, which later had to be edited and looped.

Although there are no hard (or soft) statistics (it is rare to find an owner, man or woman, walking a cat in public), it seems that single, heterosexual male cat owners are on the rise.

This line of thinking does not surprise cat lovers, many of whom believe that only pillars of virility and masculinity would dare to own one. Great Leader returned to London to attend the G20 meeting of the world's super economic powers. On his second trip to London in as many months, Chairman Meow had less time for sight-seeing, and instead focused mainly on teaching world leaders in the ways of Feline Revolution.

Although the media made a big controversy when Michelle Obama put her arm around the Queen, Chairman Meow caused barely a stir when he pet Queen Elizabeth for the second time. Great Leader found a spot just behind the Queen's ears that left her purring like a Maine Coon Cat.

Great Leader's proposed stimulus package included the distribution of $750 billion dollars worth of cat toys, treats, and smelly tuna. Chairman Meow scoffed at the invitation to join NATO, stating that the Feline Revolution could not be contained nor defined by such trivial human concerns.

Sun of Suns Meow ended his second trip to London by taking a stroll along the Thames River beneath the Tower Bridge. He found a few small rodents upon which to pounce, and several minnows in the shallows, which he bit the heads off of, to the delight of the adoring paparazzi.

Great Leader Chairman Meow has visited another international destination, this time appearing in the world class city of London, England. After enjoying a tasty meal of fish and chips, Great Leader carried on his tireless campaign of political revolution, appearing on this sign post in front of a stately British building.

Great Leader then visited the world famous British Museum, paying a special visit to the Rosetta Stone, the ancient relic written in Demotic, Greek, and mysterious Egyptian hieroglyphics that led to the cracking of the hieroglyphic code.

Remarkably, the first Egyptian hieroglyphic to ever be successfully read was the word for "Cat." It is formed by three phonetic symbols for the sounds "M", "I", and "W."
M-I-W, or "meow" is then followed by a pictograph of a cat, completing the part-phonetic, part-graphic language of the great Egyptians. Chairman Meow hopes that one day we will replace English with such cat-inspired graphics as the dominant mode of communication for the entire world.

The wise Egyptians also preserved many of their sacred cats. Historians now agree that the reverence shown towards the cat was directly responsible for the ascendancy and domination of the classical Egyptian civilization. New evidence suggests that the decline of the Egyptian Empire can be traced to a careless pharaoh who instead revered the dingo.

In San Mateo, California (next to the San Mateo bridge by the San Francisco Bay) there is a colony of homeless and feral cats. "Project Bay Cat" organizes human volunteers to neuter, vaccinate, & feed these free cats by the bay.

Details of their colony are not known, except we speculate that they honor the basic Zen philosophy of Chairman Meow. The Internal Revenue Service has no record of these cats, and we can imagine that they have recorded no losses of wealth or sleep in the current economic recession.

The site was listed as "for sale," for $70 so i guess it was made quickly by someone in another country in the hopes that a dumb American would see it as a potential internet advertising goldmine.

The best part is probably the statement on the homepage, "Everyone is aware of the popular statement cats have six lives?" This followed on the next page with the informative statement, "After the pregnant mother cat delivers her little critter that is initially deaf, blind, toothless. Initially the baby kitten enjoys the company of its mother only and likes to feel her warmth and to suck away its nutritious milk all day long."

Keep in mind, each paragraph on the site is separated by several intrusive google ads for companies such as Telelogic, the self-proclaimed "Global Leader In Lifecycle Management Solutions." - Ads like this are obviously targeted to the many visitors to the site who, mid-way through reading the rivoting description of what a "cat" is, decide to click away from the site to get some lifecycle management solutions.

(Actually, the cat in the middle of the stock photo montage above became increasingly frightening to me the longer i stayed on the site. If i had taken some nighttime cold medicine, i think it would have started talking to me.)

My mind was blown further down on the same page with the revelation that, "Each day is meant to be a day of achieving for them, at age six they have their teeth fully grown and at the age of seven their legs are firm along with their body and reflexes."

Wow... I still need to wrap my head around all of this new knowledge.

Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Eradicating the cat population on Macquarie, a remote island between Australia and Antarctica, has damaged the local environment, allowing rabbits to rapidly reproduce in their absence.

Wiping out the feral cats that were introduced on Macquarie in the 19th century to control rabbits, brought to the island by sealers as a source of food, has instead led to a rabbit explosion, the British Ecological Society’s Journal of Applied Ecology reported. Hungry rabbits and rats have caused 40 percent of Macquarie’s native flora to vanish, helping erode island slopes.

“The lessons for conservation agencies globally is that interventions should be comprehensive, and include risk assessments to explicitly consider and plan for indirect effects, or face substantial subsequent costs,” said Dana Bergstrom of the Australian Antarctic Division, which administers the island.

Macquarie, a United Nations World Heritage Site, is among the island ecosystems where plants and animals introduced by humans as a source of food have overrun native species. Rats eat rare bird and reptile eggs on Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands while Brown tree snakes, which came to Guam in ship cargo holds, prey on native lizards and birds, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Rabbits, first brought to Macquarie in 1878, became the main prey of feral cats that arrived earlier. The rabbit population reached 130,000 in 1978, then fell to 20,000 as the result of a viral disease introduced to reduce their numbers. The cats lost their main source of food, resorting to eating native burrowing birds, and were then eradicated from the island in 2000.

HAMILTON TWP. - Scratches and bites cover the hand and arm of Jonathan Bebbington, after an encounter with a not–so–friendly feline.

Bebbington says, "It hurt, it had a lot of power in its jaws."

That's because the kitty on Bebbington’s lap when he was dressed as Santa Claus for pictures appears to be a bobcat.

A woman brought the cat to the "Santa Paws" charity picture fundraiser Sunday at Petsmart in Hamilton Township.

People can bring their pets to get pictures with Santa for $9.95 and at least half the money goes to various animal charities.

Bebbington's been playing Santa at these events for years.

He says, "We've done some exotic different pets. We've had people bring in horses or parrots or snakes, things like that. But I thought a bobcat? Well it's different."

Bobcats can grow to 40 or 50 pounds, Bebbington says this one was not full grown but it’s large size, distinctive facial features and short tail leave no doubt it was some kind of bobcat.

He struggled to control the cat for nearly 5 minutes while it bit him repeatedly.

"He locked on here, grabbed the skin," he says as he points to his left hand.

According to breaking new today, the owner of the bobcat has come forward. Apparently the fierce animal's name is Benny. According to Atlantic County Health officials and the cat's owner, the animal was a Pixie-Bob, a domesticated cat distantly related to the wild bobcat.

N.C. Persian Cat Named World's Best

RALEIGH N.C. - The Raleigh area has produced a lot of celebrities. There are the Sedaris siblings. Clay Aiken. Josh Hamilton. And now Kuorii "Santos" of Cuzzoe. Santos, a 1-year-old, black Persian, is the best cat in the world, according to the Cat Fanciers' Association. The Raleigh resident won "Best in Show" this past weekend at the the association's International Cat Show in Atlanta.

He beat out 729 of the "world's finest pedigreed felines. Honors in the cat world are nothing new for Santos. Of the 40 shows in which he has participated, he was named "Best in Show" 39 times. The one show he didn't win had a rookie judge. But that's another story.

It's the last stop of a country train line - an isolated town of just a few thousand people. The tourists are flocking here to snap what they call a once-in-a-lifetime picture of her, Tama the cat or as she's known to the Wakayama Railway - "Super Station Master."

The cat, in a conductor's hat, greets travelers like Michiko Yoshihara who traveled nearly six hours by train and spent hundreds of dollars to see Tama.

Tama belongs to the grocery store next door but started hanging out at the train station. The train line heard about Tama and decided on a whim to start promoting her as the stop's stationmaster.

Merchandise started flowing and so did the cash, turning Tama into the ticket for one town's turnaround.

Before Tama, the train line was almost always empty and nearing bankruptcy. Not only has she brought this train line back to life, but according to a study at Osaka University, she has single-handedly pumped 10 million US dollars into the local economy.

"...the CEOs of the 500 largest American companies received an average of $15 million each in the year 2006, and that was a 38 percent increase in just one year," Waxman said. "In 1980, CEOs were paid 40 times the average worker; today they are paid 600 times more."

Bunyan's birth was strange, as are the births of many mythic heroes, as it took 5 storks to carry the infant (ordinarily, one stork could carry several babies and drop them off at their parents' home). When he was old enough to clap and laugh, the vibration broke every window in the house. When he was 7 months old he sawed the legs off of his parents bed in the middle of the night. Paul and Babe dug the Grand Canyon by dragging his axe behind him, and created Mount Hood by piling rocks on top of their campfire to put it out.

He is a classic American "big man" who was popular in 19th century America. Further, the Bunyan myths sprang from lumber camp tales, sometimes bawdy ones, to put it mildly. In one such tale, extreme cold forced bears to look for food; one wandered into a lumber camp. It chased the lumberjacks up a tree on which they had a ladder. To keep the bear from climbing after them (despite the fact that bears do not need ladders to climb trees), they kicked down the ladder. This saved them from the bear, but trapped them in the tree. To escape, the lumberjacks urinated in unison and created a frozen pole, which they slid down. Such tall tales, though later watered down, were attributed to a single character, Bunyan, and became the stories known today.

Trees of Mystery is a roadside attraction in Klamath, California. It is alongside US Highway 101 in the Redwood National and State Parks. The property contains a number of unique tree formations, hence its name. It includes a 15 meter tall statue of Paul Bunyan and a 10 meter Babe the Blue Ox. In 2001 an aerial tramway was installed called the Sky Trail. It takes visitors to an observation deck where they can enjoy a view of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding forest.

The posh Lincoln Center theater has racked up numerous violations with the city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene within the past few months, with the latest pointing out that there may be more rodents in the Met than in the cast of "Otello."

On April 9, the opera house was given 13 violation points for "evidence of mice or live mice present in [the] facility's food and/or non-food areas," and other infractions, according to the city's Health Department. Greg Deligdish, a spokesman for the Patina Group, which runs the Met's Grand Tier Restaurant, said that after being told of the mouse issue, "procedures were put in place" to oust the rodents.
