Chairman Meow Seen in Frankfurt, Germany

chairman meow stickerThe following message arrived with the above photo, confirming the presence of Chairman Meow, whose radical ideology of kitty world domination seems to be spreading faster than swine flu.

Comrade, after it's victorious walk-through in Munich the Feline Revolution has now spread to Frankfurt, Germany. Meow was first sighted at the Old Opera House to begin the cultural revolution. However, pictures are still rare but rumors spread, that the city's financial centre will be infiltrated shortly.

We will keep you posted of every strategic movement.

Chairman Meow in Munich Germany

chairman meow germanyMunich - Marienplatz

(Sent by honorable kitteh servant Hendrik V. from Germany)
Great Leader Chairman Meow has taken another important step to world domination - this time appearing in the historical meaningful city of Munich, Germany accompanied by his old comrade the Lolrus. The Great Leader carried on his tireless campaign of political revolution, appearing only at most glorious places of the city:

After visiting Munich's Victory Gate with its 4 great felines of prey on top of it, the great leader moved on to the world famous Field Marshall's Hall - to pay homage to the great lions guarding this honorable place once built for great kings and leaders.

To infiltrate the city's political infrastructure even further, Chairman Meow was also seen at Munich's town hall. After spreading his revolutionary mindset on the famous Mary's Square, he was received with cheers and thundering applause from the masses.

Also our great leader wouldn't miss the chance to visit the politically and historically important King's Square with its ancient greek buildings - to inspect a triumphant parade of his revolutionary troops in Germany. His visit will be cherished for generations to come.

Long live Chairman Meow!

Meow at the G20 Meeting

Great Leader returned to London to attend the G20 meeting of the world's super economic powers. On his second trip to London in as many months, Chairman Meow had less time for sight-seeing, and instead focused mainly on teaching world leaders in the ways of Feline Revolution.

Although the media made a big controversy when Michelle Obama put her arm around the Queen, Chairman Meow caused barely a stir when he pet Queen Elizabeth for the second time. Great Leader found a spot just behind the Queen's ears that left her purring like a Maine Coon Cat.

Great Leader's proposed stimulus package included the distribution of $750 billion dollars worth of cat toys, treats, and smelly tuna. Chairman Meow scoffed at the invitation to join NATO, stating that the Feline Revolution could not be contained nor defined by such trivial human concerns.

Sun of Suns Meow ended his second trip to London by taking a stroll along the Thames River beneath the Tower Bridge. He found a few small rodents upon which to pounce, and several minnows in the shallows, which he bit the heads off of, to the delight of the adoring paparazzi.

Chairman Meow Takes in London

Great Leader Chairman Meow has visited another international destination, this time appearing in the world class city of London, England. After enjoying a tasty meal of fish and chips, Great Leader carried on his tireless campaign of political revolution, appearing on this sign post in front of a stately British building.

Great Leader then visited the world famous British Museum, paying a special visit to the Rosetta Stone, the ancient relic written in Demotic, Greek, and mysterious Egyptian hieroglyphics that led to the cracking of the hieroglyphic code.

Remarkably, the first Egyptian hieroglyphic to ever be successfully read was the word for "Cat." It is formed by three phonetic symbols for the sounds "M", "I", and "W."
M-I-W, or "meow" is then followed by a pictograph of a cat, completing the part-phonetic, part-graphic language of the great Egyptians. Chairman Meow hopes that one day we will replace English with such cat-inspired graphics as the dominant mode of communication for the entire world.

The wise Egyptians also preserved many of their sacred cats. Historians now agree that the reverence shown towards the cat was directly responsible for the ascendancy and domination of the classical Egyptian civilization. New evidence suggests that the decline of the Egyptian Empire can be traced to a careless pharaoh who instead revered the dingo.

The British Museum also displayed this magnificent cat sculpture, found among the precious valuables of a pharaoh's burial tomb.

Perhaps Chairman Meow spent too much time in the British Museum while he traveled in London, but such is the spiritual and intellectual gravitas of Great Leader. His thirst for knowledge is unparalleled in this world or the next, and his quest for justice and righteous revolutionary principles can be traced back to the time of the great cat in Egypt.

After petting Queen Elizabeth in Buckingham Palace, Chairman Meow left London, inspired and craving more Boddington's and Old Speckled Hen Ale.

Chairman Meow at San Francisco Bay

chairman meow san franciscoIn San Mateo, California (next to the San Mateo bridge by the San Francisco Bay) there is a colony of homeless and feral cats. "Project Bay Cat" organizes human volunteers to neuter, vaccinate, & feed these free cats by the bay.

Details of their colony are not known, except we speculate that they honor the basic Zen philosophy of Chairman Meow. The Internal Revenue Service has no record of these cats, and we can imagine that they have recorded no losses of wealth or sleep in the current economic recession.

More about Project Bay Cat from CatChannel.com: Project Bay Cat is a collaborative effort among the Homeless Cat Network, the City of Foster City and Sequoia Audubon Society to humanely reduce the feral cat population along Foster City’s Bay Trail near San Francisco, Calif.

Since its conception in 2005, 95 percent of the more than 170 cats in the area have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated. In addition, more than 67 cats and kittens have found new homes through the program’s foster and adoption efforts.

This sticker was documented by a physician who commutes to work each day on his bike, and records some of his observations and thoughts at doctoronabike.blogspot.com.

In a moment of reflection, Chairman Meow reminds us of a quote from T.S. Elliot: "The end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time."

A Simply Terrible Cat Website

I was surfing around the internet, and found this garbage "cat" website, www.aboutcat.info You wonder who creates websites like this? (see acid-trip stock photo collage above)

The site was listed as "for sale," for $70 so i guess it was made quickly by someone in another country in the hopes that a dumb American would see it as a potential internet advertising goldmine.

The best part is probably the statement on the homepage, "Everyone is aware of the popular statement cats have six lives?"
This followed on the next page with the informative statement, "After the pregnant mother cat delivers her little critter that is initially deaf, blind, toothless. Initially the baby kitten enjoys the company of its mother only and likes to feel her warmth and to suck away its nutritious milk all day long."

Keep in mind, each paragraph on the site is separated by several intrusive google ads for companies such as Telelogic, the self-proclaimed "Global Leader In Lifecycle Management Solutions." - Ads like this are obviously targeted to the many visitors to the site who, mid-way through reading the rivoting description of what a "cat" is, decide to click away from the site to get some lifecycle management solutions.

(Actually, the cat in the middle of the stock photo montage above became increasingly frightening to me the longer i stayed on the site. If i had taken some nighttime cold medicine, i think it would have started talking to me.)

My mind was blown further down on the same page with the revelation that, "Each day is meant to be a day of achieving for them, at age six they have their teeth fully grown and at the age of seven their legs are firm along with their body and reflexes."

Wow... I still need to wrap my head around all of this new knowledge.

*2/13/09 - Upon learning of the aboutcat.info website, Great Leader Chairman Meow's Ministry of Information has labeled the site "unpatriotic." Access to the site has reportedly been blocked from within mainland China, and the site owner has recently been reported "missing."

Chairman Meow Spreads to Brooklyn, NY

The glorious tenets of feline revolution have spread to the 2.5 million residents of Brooklyn, New York! Great Leader was greeted with a feast of plump city mice, and a parade of loyal kitties that stretched as far as the eye could see. Here is a great artistic work, most pleasing to Meow:

Brooklyn's official motto is Een Draght Mackt Maght. Written in the (old) Dutch language, it is inspired by the motto of the United Dutch Provinces and translates as In Unity There is Strength.

Great Leader was not threatened by the scary-looking zombie on this street light post. Noble Leader showed bravery and optimism in the face of such nihilistic propaganda.

Chairman Meow will never forget the inhabitants of Brooklyn, New York. Great Leader promises that if the great strength of his revolution succeeds in restoring a more peaceful and just world order, one of his first actions will be to return the LA Dodgers to their rightful home in Brooklyn.

He will also construct a great monument on the scale of the Statue of Liberty to welcome tired, poor, hungry and huddled kitties, while at the same time somehow memorializing the late rapper Old Dirty Bastard, a native Brooklynite.

Chairman Meow Attends Inauguration

The movements of Great Leader are often top secret, especially when they involve other world leaders. We are pleased to declassify this photograph from the Metro system in Washington, D.C., taken on 2/19/09, the historic Inauguration day of Barack Obama.

The US Government invited Chairman Meow to give the Oath of Office to President Obama, but Great Leader humbly allowed Justice Roberts to keep with tradition. Chairman Meow cringed as he listened to Roberts and Obama flub the sacred oath, and for a second wondered if he should declare feline martial law across the world.

Fortunately, Great Leader showed blessed mercy that day, and allowed the human leaders another chance. Chairman Meow has guarded hopes for the Obama presidency, and asks for your help in determining how to proceed with the economic stimulus package. Chairman Meow will share your thoughts with President Obama during his 3 hour daily meetings with him.

Removing Cats to Protect Birds Backfires on Island

(Advisors to President Bush warn that pulling troops out of Iraq could trigger a similar explosion of the native rabbit population.)

Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Eradicating the cat population on Macquarie, a remote island between Australia and Antarctica, has damaged the local environment, allowing rabbits to rapidly reproduce in their absence.

Wiping out the feral cats that were introduced on Macquarie in the 19th century to control rabbits, brought to the island by sealers as a source of food, has instead led to a rabbit explosion, the British Ecological Society’s Journal of Applied Ecology reported. Hungry rabbits and rats have caused 40 percent of Macquarie’s native flora to vanish, helping erode island slopes.

“The lessons for conservation agencies globally is that interventions should be comprehensive, and include risk assessments to explicitly consider and plan for indirect effects, or face substantial subsequent costs,” said Dana Bergstrom of the Australian Antarctic Division, which administers the island.

Macquarie, a United Nations World Heritage Site, is among the island ecosystems where plants and animals introduced by humans as a source of food have overrun native species. Rats eat rare bird and reptile eggs on Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands while Brown tree snakes, which came to Guam in ship cargo holds, prey on native lizards and birds, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Rabbits, first brought to Macquarie in 1878, became the main prey of feral cats that arrived earlier. The rabbit population reached 130,000 in 1978, then fell to 20,000 as the result of a viral disease introduced to reduce their numbers. The cats lost their main source of food, resorting to eating native burrowing birds, and were then eradicated from the island in 2000.

Global trade contributes to the mixing of plants and animals across different ecosystems, the Invasive Species Specialist Group of scientists and policy experts says. The cat features on the group’s list of the world’s worst invasive alien species. view article

Bush's Cat "India" Dies; Pakistan a Suspect

Indians mourn the loss of India the cat

Just Days after terror struck Mumbai India, terror also struck "India" the Whitehouse cat.
The Bushes' cat, an 18-year-old American shorthair named India, died Sunday under what the FBI is calling "suspicious" circumstances.

Upon hearing the news, confused Pakistani militants briefly stopped chanting, "Death to India!"
before quickly resuming when the news was clarified.

President Bush was initially saddened and angered by the news, promising to "smoke out" whoever was responsible. But after mulling the news over, he soon exclaimed with relief, "Well, at least she has 8 more lives."

Islamic militants ridicule death of Bush cat
AP 1/06/08

Islamic militants posted sarcastic comments on an extremist Web site Tuesday ridiculing a recent announcement by First Lady Laura Bush that the family's cat had died.

The online comments were unusual on the site that usually focuses on official statements by al-Qaida and other militants. Commentators, who must be registered members of the site, frequently post their opinions, but normally the topics are humorless.

But on Tuesday, one commentator, called Dark-Side, sarcastically urged followers to offer condolences for the cat... read more

Cat Bites Santa in New Jersey

In a shocking bite-and-run, a large cat has injured a New Jersey man acting as Santa Claus:
HAMILTON TWP. - Scratches and bites cover the hand and arm of Jonathan Bebbington, after an encounter with a not–so–friendly feline.

Bebbington says, "It hurt, it had a lot of power in its jaws."

That's because the kitty on Bebbington’s lap when he was dressed as Santa Claus for pictures appears to be a bobcat.

A woman brought the cat to the "Santa Paws" charity picture fundraiser Sunday at Petsmart in Hamilton Township.

People can bring their pets to get pictures with Santa for $9.95 and at least half the money goes to various animal charities.

Bebbington's been playing Santa at these events for years.

He says, "We've done some exotic different pets. We've had people bring in horses or parrots or snakes, things like that. But I thought a bobcat? Well it's different."

Bobcats can grow to 40 or 50 pounds, Bebbington says this one was not full grown but it’s large size, distinctive facial features and short tail leave no doubt it was some kind of bobcat.

He struggled to control the cat for nearly 5 minutes while it bit him repeatedly.

"He locked on here, grabbed the skin," he says as he points to his left hand.

According to breaking new today, the owner of the bobcat has come forward. Apparently the fierce animal's name is Benny. According to Atlantic County Health officials and the cat's owner, the animal was a Pixie-Bob, a domesticated cat distantly related to the wild bobcat.

Chairman Meow condemns the attack on Santa Claus in general, but has called for further investigation into the motives of Benny, the Pixie-Bob, and has not ruled out the possibility that the attack upon this particular Santa Claus was justified. Chairman Meow points out that naive humans often try to "overlove" cats with excessive petting and cuddling, and in such instances a retaliatory attack may be deemed appropriate, even upon Santa himself.

Australia - Land of Crocs, Aborigines, and Chairman Meow

Fresh off a tour of Japan, during which Chairman Meow was dubbed a Buddhist Rockstar Cult of Personality, Great Leader then rallied feline patriots down under in Australia.

Benevolent teachings occurred near the phenomenal geological formation known as Uluru, or Ayer's Rock, a massive sandstone outcropping sacred to the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area.

Great Leader called for open world dialogue and greater understanding among the creatures of the Earth, but did promise swift and vicious bitings to those who would undermine inalienable feline freedom.

Great Leader then walked the sands of Clifton Beach in Australia, privately mulling over brilliant ideas and composing over 13 love sonnets in his head, which were then quickly transcribed by servants and distributed to over 5 billion rapturous followers across to the world to read, far eclipsing the mediocre success of J.K. Rowling.

A contemplative C. Meow avoiding stinging jellies and composing great literature in his head, Clifton Beach, Australia

Finally, Chairman Meow brought his growing entourage to the World Class city of Sydney, where he attended a performance at the Sydney Opera House, distributing free cans of tuna to loyalists in the audience, of which there were many.

Outside city limits, and atop downtown Sydney, Australia

From his view atop the city looking out onto the famous Sydney Harbor Bridge, Chairman Meow couldn't help feeling a certain pride in his refusal to sell out to corporate greed. Great Leader wears only a revolutionary cap upon his head, and often goes without other clothing. He lives a simple of life of meditation, peace, and tireless work uplifting the kitties of the world to a place where they are properly obeyed by their human servants.

Chairman Meow, Honored Guest of Japanese

Our Noble Leader has completed a grand tour of the great islands of Japan, during which time he mastered the entire Japanse language and forged alliances with local feline leaders.

Never one to boast of his intelligence, Chairman Meow promoted understanding and peace during a visit to the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

Chairman Meow Propaganda, Outside Imperial Palace, Tokyo, Japan

The name Japan is actually an English word, since the people call their homeland both Nippon and Nihon, which literally mean "the sun's origin." Nippon and Nihon are often translated as the Land of the Rising Sun. This nomenclature comes from Imperial correspondence with Chinese Sui Dynasty and refers to Japan's eastward position relative to China.

Naturally, sun-worshipping cats around the world flock to the eastern shores of Japan to be the first to catch a warm spot in the new day's sun. Our Great Leader's propaganda now rises each day with a new revolution of the Earth, encouraging working cats to find purpose in their lives. Some kittehs actually believe that Chairman Meow is some kind of reincarnated sun-god.

Benevolent Leader then spread the good news of Feline Revolution to the streets of Asakusa, a district in Tokyo, Japan, most famous for the Sensō-ji, a Buddhist temple dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon. In the Buddhist tradition, bodhisattva translates into "Enlightened Existence" or "Enlightenment-Being."

Kitties in Asakusa honored Great Leader by pronouncing him Bodhisattva Meowtaka - he who listens to the cries of the kitty.

N.C. Persian Cat Named World's Best

RALEIGH N.C. - The Raleigh area has produced a lot of celebrities. There are the Sedaris siblings. Clay Aiken. Josh Hamilton. And now Kuorii "Santos" of Cuzzoe. Santos, a 1-year-old, black Persian, is the best cat in the world, according to the Cat Fanciers' Association. The Raleigh resident won "Best in Show" this past weekend at the the association's International Cat Show in Atlanta.

He beat out 729 of the "world's finest pedigreed felines. Honors in the cat world are nothing new for Santos. Of the 40 shows in which he has participated, he was named "Best in Show" 39 times. The one show he didn't win had a rookie judge. But that's another story.

When Santos is not traveling the world for shows, he lives the celebrity life in his North Raleigh home near Triangle Town Center with owners Brandon Moore, 22, and Justin Pelletier, 30. He sleeps in his own room on hand-made, navy blue, silk pillows.

Twice a day, he dines on special meat made especially for cats, which his owners feed to him by hand. He also has a catnip habit. He takes four baths a week in his own tub with a mix of Joico and Aveda shampoos that cost $60 a bottle. full story

Ninja Kittehs

Toyota has released an advertisement in Australia in which a ninja cat steals some tasty food and then gets away in a Corolla.

Chairman Meow was generally entertained, but is not more likely to buy a Toyota after watching. This could be due to his superior propaganda-resisting mental strength.

Great Leader was, however, distracted like the other cats by the swinging light fixture, and urges all feline soldiers in the Revolution to resist becoming mesmerized by swinging objects, including lights, balls of yarn, yo-yo's, etc..

Cat Earns $10 Million For Japaneses Town

NBC News 10 - With the downturn in the global financial sector, many small towns are scrambling to boost their economy. One town in Japan decided that the key to prosperity was a cat, but not just any cat.

It's the last stop of a country train line - an isolated town of just a few thousand people. The tourists are flocking here to snap what they call a once-in-a-lifetime picture of her, Tama the cat or as she's known to the Wakayama Railway - "Super Station Master."

The cat, in a conductor's hat, greets travelers like Michiko Yoshihara who traveled nearly six hours by train and spent hundreds of dollars to see Tama.

Tama belongs to the grocery store next door but started hanging out at the train station. The train line heard about Tama and decided on a whim to start promoting her as the stop's stationmaster.

Merchandise started flowing and so did the cash, turning Tama into the ticket for one town's turnaround.

Before Tama, the train line was almost always empty and nearing bankruptcy. Not only has she brought this train line back to life, but according to a study at Osaka University, she has single-handedly pumped 10 million US dollars into the local economy.

Seeing is believing, says the town that's living an economic turnaround amid a national and global slowdown.

Why would so many spend so much on a little cat? It's a chance to take a break from the problems facing Japan, says Haruto Maeda, who took the day off work to see Tama.

Tama now lives full-time at the station, with her mom and a friend.

As many cats' fur is combed carefully into place, hundreds of cats will be competing for Best of Breed and Best of the Best honors. Hundreds of cats in need of a home from various shelter will be there too at the adoption event--we met a few today, and Marley, Lucy and Sebastian would be super sweet additions to any home!

A new addition: The Iams Trained Cats. According to the press release, these cats, who have appeared in Iams commercials, will be "slam-dunking, strutting on a balance beam and kicking off the show by lighting a torch." There's also the Feline Agility Competition (three words: cat obstacle course), which regular cats can enter too.
