Mice Play the Met
New York Post - May 29, 2008
"Swan Lake" is playing at the Metropolitan Opera House this week, but there's another animal patrons should worry about - mice.
The posh Lincoln Center theater has racked up numerous violations with the city Department of Health and Mental Hygiene within the past few months, with the latest pointing out that there may be more rodents in the Met than in the cast of "Otello."
On April 9, the opera house was given 13 violation points for "evidence of mice or live mice present in [the] facility's food and/or non-food areas," and other infractions, according to the city's Health Department. Greg Deligdish, a spokesman for the Patina Group, which runs the Met's Grand Tier Restaurant, said that after being told of the mouse issue, "procedures were put in place" to oust the rodents.
Reps for the Met did not return calls and e-mails for comment.
